Howdy y'all. Production has finished on Riddle Sandwich, my newest film. Started on the 22nd of last month and officially finished today.

It's meant to be in the style of an old point and click adventure game and I think it came out well.

When I release it tomorrow, I might make a blog post going more in depth with the design process of the whole thing. See y'all when it's out!

howdy im back from a funeral. Let's catch do a catch up.

So in the last blog, I posted that Solaroid and Acetronaut were being put on hiatus.

Well that's now a lie, i am apparently a liar.

Progress on Solaroid is being continued, Acetronaut is still on hiatus though.

Despite me being making a film with 12/76 detailed photo studies, Acetronaut's 20 page script would be way more drawing, editing, and voice acting to do.

Solaroid photos will be done off and on, when I get the time/passion to do them.

If you'd like to know more about Solaroid, here's a brief synopsis. It's a film, kinda like an analog horror if I actually watched a single one of those, about a trio of people in the distant (retro) future. The photos will follow their childhoods, their eventual crossing, and something else that I won't tell you until the film comes out. 🤫

So I've been trying to flesh out a trio. Skunk, Rankenbass, and Dusa.

I made A LOT of Skunk backstory art.

NOW ART FOR THE ACTUAL FILM IDEA. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BACKSTORY ART.

The idea is of a King's Quest style short of these three bozo's having to deal with a riddle door. They're not good at riddles.

If you've seen that one Worthikids apple cartoon, it'll be a similar vibe.

Howdy, little update.

So Solaroid and Acetronaut are currently on pause. I realized that both of their scopes were extremely large and coming back to them at 100% with a semi-healed broken wrist was not the right choice and stopped before pain and burnout kicked in.

I am studying animation right now, something I went to college for from 2017-2021 and just stopped after that.

Here's some of the exercises I've been doing.

I dropped it after getting a bad injury during my thesis (when the chairman decided to keep pushing me for it despite me already having an injury)

I grew to dislike animating. I wasn't great at it, we had to do the chairman's skewed vision of what he wanted, and I was a pretty lazy student. The injury was just the final nail in the coffin.

I'm coming back to it with NO greater goal other than to study it, LEARN IT unlike 19 year old me who assumed he'd just get it eventually, and do what I want with it with no one else telling me how this art form should be.

I'm currently working on two short films.

First is SOLAROID. The short synopsis is that

a series of Solaroid™ photographs found in several binders in an abandoned DOC’S RESCUE & RUMMAGE* SHIP and scattered on the floor of a COMMERCIAL TOWING SHIP on the 9TH OF JANUARY, 2630.

*A company known for responding to distress signals and rescuing the stranded occupants of nonfunctioning ships. If too late, they bring the bodies to the proper authorities and resell what they can of the nonfunctioning ships.

The protags are named Dani J. Léon, Astrid Toft, and Emilio Pacheco.

The story will be told through Solaroid photographs, displayed on a projector. I'll have to borrow my friend's projector and physically record me going through a slideshow. It might be neat, it might be lame. Let's hope for the best.

The film's artwork is VERY reference heavy. Either painting based off reference, photobashing, or paintovers over photobashes. It's a very experimental way for me to make a film but I need at least 74 digital paintings that mimick photography and it would suck do it without the reference and photobashes.

THE NEXT ONE IS ACETRONAUT in: THE TRANSDIMENSIONAL CAN CAN

this one is gonna suck to make. OKAY so this one is, if you've stared at my art long enough, something based off some OLD oc's of mine. It's going to be an AT LEAST 20 minute animatic, probably with some color. And voice acting.

It'll be my biggest project I've ever made and I am not happy with past me for writing a 21 page script. It's not going to be easy, and it's not going to be cheap. My ambition is my enemy.

The epsiode will be about a group of scifi dudes hunting down a EVIL FUCKING WIZARD who keeps hopping universes to run away from them but eventually, the alternate versions of them band together and hunt him down again, rinse and repeat.

It is very much in the concepting phase (visually speaking) and I'm not going to go too far with it until Solaroid is farther in development. Below are some concepts.

I'm sure you've noticed by my tone, I'm VERY weary about this project. It'll be a long process to work on and several films might come out before it. All fears aside, I'm excited about it. These are characters that are very near and dear to my heart and are one of the only projects I've made that isn't horror. It's more science fantasy action comedy. Here's hoping it goes well.

do you think he stands in the shower, staring at the tiles against the wall, wondering what is he going to fucking do?

do you think he keeps trying to pitch a new show and the executives keep suggesting that a rap show would work better because how he did on epic rap battles?

does he get mad? why should he? it won't stop. it'll never stop.

will he just learn to accept it? that people assume he participated in a rap battle against the real life julia child?

maybe it was him. he can't even remember anymore.

yes, he was there, and yes, he faced off in an epic rap battle against julia child.

it doesn't matter anymore.

it doesn't matter that julia child has been dead since 2004 and it doesn't matter that he looks nothing like epiclloyd. it's him. it always was.
